dear blog, you've not been forgotten.

It has been a CRAZY few weeks. Story of my life lately, I know. August is an insane month at work, as I have discovered through experience and prior warning. Only a few more hours left of the month, and I'm still alive! It's worth a mini celebration in my book. Oh wait, a celebration is taking place in the form of stuffing invitations tomorrow night with wine (the celebratory part)

On that note, I'm so glad my invitations finally arrived this week, after way too many multiple revisions. At one point I received a proof with the word reception spelled "recpton"... I double checked my spelling from my previous email correspondence and it was correct. Fail. At that point I was quite nervous about the final product! They arrived yesterday and look great. Not my first choice for invitations, but hey, they aren't really what is important in the big picture. Essentially, after being faced with an epic last minute budget cut (more on that later, maybe) they were one of the items on which we chopped costs.

I would love to post pictures from my two showers last weekend but poor 'ol Molly the MacBook is out of memory and currently accepting no new pictures. Sad day. I'm trying to locate my external hard drive to remedy this problem but it's pretty far down on my to do list.

Sheesh! This isn't much for a positive blog post. It is a realistic look into the craziness of wedding planning, however. I am ready for October 15. End of blog post for the evening. :)

happy birthday, paisley!

Happy 1st birthday to our sweet baby puppy!

Yep. She wore a hat to celebrate.

Here's a look back... Also, as I was looking for pictures I realized what a ridiculous amount of them I have of her!

blog love

Last week, Miss Jessica Nicole from Southern in the City tagged me with a thoughtful blog award! I planned to share last week, but, as you see am just getting to it.

Here's how it works:
- Thank the award-giver and link back to them in your post.
- Tell your readers 7 things about yourself.
- Give this award to up to 15 recently discovered bloggers.
- Contact those bloggers and let them in on the exciting news.

I just realized this morning, after flipping back through old post, this little blog has been around for more than a year! It's been such a fun way to reconnect with faraway friends, share wedding ideas, and do something I enjoy! Thanks, Jessica Nicole!!

So... Here goes. 7 things about me you may or may not know.

1. I am obsessed with coffee. It may be beyond obsession, actually. If I do not consume at least a cup by noon (or some other equally potent form of caffeine) I end up with a horrible headache! A little ridiculous, I know. This summer I have been really hooked on Starbucks iced caramel coffee packets.

2. I don't like spaghetti. For whatever reason, this seems odd to many people. CSB actually ordered it recently from a great restaurant and I tried it again just to make sure... No, thanks! Give me a non-spaghetti noodle past with an alfredo or pesto sauce, please.

3. I love all things crafting. Seriously. I took my own glue gun and ribbon supply with me to work the first week. Just in case.

4. I wear black scrubs to work every. single. day. Except Friday! At first this was a little bit of a bummer for me. How boring! However, I've officially come to like it. Picking out clothes is usually the part of my morning that takes the longest and I only have to do it once a week. Also, I don't have to shop for work clothes which means getting to spend paychecks on fun clothes.

5. My mom and brother are both among my best friends. I am a blessed girl to have family members I consider such incredible friends. My friends are already joking that my mom is going to be invited to my bachelorette weekend. I'd be ok with it, weirdly enough!

6. I love all things paper and stationary. Bought or homemade. A few years ago I really wanted to start making and selling my own handmade cards. I sill haven't given up on this altogether... I even have a copyrighted name, "l.caroline design". Maybe one day!

7. I love eating leftovers... But not reheated! There are very few meals I like to heat up when I eat for a second or third time. I also will not, under any circumstances, eat reheated fish or seafood. Yuck!

Now, to pass the award along...

a nashville weekend, part II

I decided this weekend deserved two posts. CSB and I loved having 3/4 of the C family in town over the weekend. Julie and Rob were amazing hosts, who, as I mentioned thought of everything! Sadie got to attend her first "grown-up" party and was the hit of our rousing game of Catch Phrase at the end of the evening. "Baby" Max (he's now 5) was here in spirit and we enjoyed pouring lemonade from the thoughtful gift he picked out for us. This morning everyone rolled out of bed and we headed to get breakfast. Pancake Pantry was the first request but we didn't quite get going early enough to avoid the already formed around the corner line. We decided to head down the street to Noshville and it certainly did not disappoint. I tried the blintzes... Amazing! They might officially rank above their french toast or pancakes.

Here are a few more pictures from this morning.

a nashville weekend, part I

This weekend was again filled with wedding festivities! My "second family" drove up to Nashville for the weekend with all the supplies for a backyard barbecue in honor of CSB and myself. And by all I mean they thought of everything... Food (delicious. all of it.), wine, beer, a cake, and adorable decorations! We spent the afternoon setting up (while the boys made a visit to Yazoo) and then relaxed and enjoyed the company of great friends! I am so thankful for my great Nashville group of friends, both my friends from grad school and CSB's wonderful group of friends who have so willingly taken me in. I took an extraordinary amount of pictures this weekend and tried to narrow it down to my favorites. There may be a weekend, part II post to follow.

a few "prep" pictures...

the cake... pre-face lift.

and post intervention. it was delicious! and I might have eaten another piece already today...
Like the "Bucks" hanging out? Ha! I cracked up. For those of you who don't know, my new last name will be Buck so it's completely fitting.

I jokingly tied a dish towel around Paisley's neck because she was drinking water non-stop and dripping everywhere. Against CSB's will I decided I like it and left it on her. It ended up coming in handy later on in the evening when she knocked my drink over; I simply untied the towel and wiped it up!

a few party details.

julie was adamant we opened a present before the shower began to ensure the lemonade had a proper home. Thanks, baby Max!

I love a good apron! This came with Julie's top secret lasagna recipe with which I have been obsessed for years.

End of the night picture with the host and hostess... We have better pictures from the beginning of the evening but they are all on Julie's camera!

More pictures to come in part II!
